Climate Change, The Factor 40 Problem

Have humans really caused climate change; doesn’t it happen naturally? Is the threat that serious? Won’t mankind find solutions in time? Come and hear one of UK's top scientists John Shepherd and put your questions to him.

John is a professor at the National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton and an Deputy Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. He claims, to keep CO 2 in the atmosphere to an acceptable level, greenhouse gas emissions need to be reduced by a factor of forty.

Dr Caroline Lucas, a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) representing our area, is on the European Parliament Committee addressing climate change. She was voted Politician of the Year in the Observer Ethical Awards 2007.

Caroline believes having a good quality of life and safeguarding the climate are mutually dependent. It serves both our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of the planet to challenge our ever-increasing consumption, and waste, of natural resources. Do you agree? Come and see.
